How does it work?
BoomWriter motivates students to think, read, create, compare, evaluate and innovate. How? Since students want their chapters to earn votes, they push their creative skills to the next level! Because what they have written will face an audience of peers rather than simply their teacher, students’ creativity flourishes, and they come to realize the importance of composition, syntax, spelling and even grammar! To top this off, BoomWriter features an appealing customizable cartoon avatar for each student to display his or her personality while writing anonymously. The peer evaluations of each of the chapters are therefore free of the influence of personalities, cliques, or collusion.

Is it safe?
BoomWriter is extremely safe for students. The site is password protected for teachers and students, and only the teacher is able to have direct communication with the students (for the purpose of instruction). Students’ individual identities are protected by the avatar that they create, and this allows them to have a persona without compromising their identity. All student chapter submissions are screened by the teacher before being submitted for the peer voting process.

How will this help my child?
Rather than frittering away hours on Facebook and YouTube on activities that do not build brain power, a student who spends time participating in BoomWriter competitions is dramatically boosting his or her valuable cognitive skills.
The highest levels of thinking and learning, as quantified by Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognition, are “Creating” and “Evaluating.” BoomWriter guides students to do both... while having fun in the process! The educational benefits of BoomWriter are seemingly endless. BoomWriter can serve as an incredibly helpful tool for any balanced literacy program, and teachers already using the program instantly recognize the heightened levels of investment and engagement demonstrated by their students. BoomWriter is standards-based and can be used for “in action” practice of specific genres (from Science Fiction to Drama), and even for test preparation: collaboratively creating a top-scoring essay.

How much does it cost?
BoomWriter is free for schools
School Subscriptions to BoomWriter are one hundred percent free for teachers and children to use in schools.
If students, families, or class groups wish to purchase completed class books they can be ordered online and delivered to your door.
BoomWriter Writing Club subscription costs $39.99/year
If your child wishes to hone his or her reading and writing skills in BoomWriter’s national competitions, Individual Subscriptions to BoomWriter are available for $39.99 per year.

Who is using this?
BoomWriter is now in hundreds of schools spread throughout 11 different countries, and the list continues to grow!
BoomWriter caters to a broad range of learners and addresses an equally broad range of skills. It works equally well for a classroom teacher with 30 students, as a challenge coach with 100 students or a special education teacher with 10 students. Most teachers can easily identify a way for BoomWriter to be a highly beneficial part of their curriculum.

How do I buy books?
We are currently working on the purchasing side of BoomWriter.
Once a book has been completed you will be able to order copies and have them delivered to your door.
