Students enjoy and are captivated by the unique approach to writing, and it’s extremely easy for teachers to incorporate into their curriculum. BoomWriter challenges strong students to produce their best work, while at the same time inspiring reluctant writers to exceed their normal output levels.

In Bloom’s Taxonomy of cognition, the highest levels of thinking and learning are “Creating” and “Evaluating.” BoomWriter guides students to do both... and have fun in the process!
The educational benefits of BoomWriter are seemingly endless.
BoomWriter can serve as an incredibly helpful tool for any balanced literacy program, and teachers already using the program instantly recognize the levels of investment and engagement demonstrated by their students.
Teachers also have the option of providing instruction for students in the form of “Guiding Notes” prior to the creation of each new chapter.
BoomWriter is standards-based and can be used for “in action” practice of specific genres (from Science Fiction to Drama), and even for test preparation: collaboratively creating a top-scoring essay.

Who is using it?
BoomWriter is now in close to 2,000 schools spread throughout 20 different countries, and the list continues to grow!
BoomWriter caters to a broad range of learners in terms of age, background, socioeconomic status, learning style, and skill levels, and it addresses an equally broad range of skills.
No matter what grade level you teach, and regardless of whether you are a classroom teacher with 30 students, a challenge coach with 100 students, or a special education teacher with 10 students, most teachers can easily identify a way for BoomWriter to be a highly beneficial part of their curriculum.
Some teachers create lessons and use it during class, while others offer it as an extra credit club, or at-home assignment.

How do I do it?
BoomWriter is highly intuitive and easy to use. All educators who register on the site receive an electronic copy of our Teacher’s Manual providing step-by-step instructions on how to use the program.
We also run regular training sessions to help you get the most out of BoomWriter.

Is there support?
In addition to providing a step-by-step guide with the Teacher’s Manual, support for teachers is always available via email at info@boomwriter.com. Any questions can be addressed here within a 24-hour period, and more pressing questions can always be answered over the phone by calling one of our technical support personnel.

What is a Guest Author?
Guest authors are published authors who provide the first chapters (or what we like to call "story starts") for teachers to use with their students.
With a variety of genres and lengths to select from, and a variety of ages and grades to cater to, teachers may go to the BoomWriter Marketplace and select the story start that they want to begin using with their students. It's then up to the children to determine where the rest of the story will go.
Teachers are also able to create their own story starts to perfectly sync with the unit they are teaching.

Is it safe?
BoomWriter is extremely safe for students. The site is password protected for teachers and students, and only the teacher is able to have direct communication with the students (for the purpose of instruction).
Students' individual identities are protected by the avatar (we call this a Boomer) that they create, and this allows them to have a persona without compromising their identity.
When students read and vote on chapter submissions, they never see the avatars or names of the authors, meaning BoomWriter competitions are an exercise in writing prowess, not popularity contests. Only when a chapter has been won do we reveal the winning author’s avatar.
