The Director will play a vital role in overseeing the creative and collaborative efforts between BoomWriter, WGBH, and Jeff Kinney to provide a virtual summer writing camp experience. The Director will oversee the camp counselor staff’s managing of web-based story writing competitions that will primarily consist of reviewing, providing feedback on and editing camp participants’ writing submissions. The Director will make decisions regarding and will assist with providing communications from the camp and its counselors to camp participants and their parents.
BoomWriter is seeking an individual with an active valid teaching license to serve as the Camp Director for our new BoomWriter Storytellers Camp – a series of one-week online, curriculum-based and educator-supported camps that foster creativity and expressive writing with guest author Jeff Kinney, writer of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. BoomWriter seeks an individual who possesses strong leadership, decision-making and customer service skills, as well as the ability to provide written communications with parents and “campers” (kids in grades 6-8). An excellent work ethic and sincere enthusiasm for working with children in the middle grades is imperative. In addition to a strong background in Education, individuals possessing a degree/s in English or Journalism are preferred.
